The support for using it is built into Internet Explorer, with Microsoft leaving the rest of the world to fill in the gaps on the other browsers and platforms.<br /><br /><a href="http://xmldap.org">Chuck Mortimore</a>, with great diligence, has begun work on the first true, cross-platform extension for FireFox to enable interoperatability with CardSpace, and the <a href="http://www.identityblog.com/stories/2005/07/05/IdentityMetasystem.htm">Identity Metasystem</a>. He's made some fantastic progress in getting FireFox up to par with that. The only down side is, that Managed Cards may take some serious, significant effort to implement. And, what if one actually wanted to use the Windows CardSpace identity selector, but from FireFox?<br /><br />That's where this extension comes into play.<br /><br />The FireFox Identity Selector extension implements support for CardSpace on Windows, giving FireFox parity with IE. Additionally, the extension provides the ability to plug-in other Identity Selectors, by implemeting an XPCOM interface, that contains really only a single method.
